Brakes, clutches, cambelts, suspension and everything in between, on cars, vans and camper vans of any make.
Every repair is costed up and agreed before the work starts.
Repairs cannot be priced from a list, because the same symptom can have a cheap cause or an expensive one. What we can promise is the order things happen in: we look at the vehicle, we work out what it actually needs, we ring you with the cost, and you decide. Nothing gets fitted before that conversation.
Where there is a sensible choice to make, you get told about it. Some jobs have a proper fix and a cheaper fix that will see you through another year, and on an older vehicle that is a decision for you rather than for us. We will also tell you when a repair is not worth doing, which is not something a garage paid by the hour is supposed to say, but it saves people money.
The jobs that keep a vehicle on the road, done properly.
Brakes are the most common job through the workshop, and the one people leave longest. A grinding noise usually means the pads are gone and the discs are taking the wear, which turns a routine job into a bigger one. We measure what is left rather than replacing on sight, and we will tell you if you have another few thousand miles in them.
Clutches, cambelts and timing chains are the jobs where getting the interval right matters most. A cambelt that snaps takes the engine with it on most modern designs, so if you do not know when yours was last done, tell us the mileage and age and we will give you a straight view on whether it is due. It is a bigger bill than a service and a far smaller one than an engine.
Then there is everything else that comes with a vehicle being used: suspension and steering components, wheel bearings, exhaust systems, cooling and heating faults, batteries, wipers, bulbs and the jobs that fail an MOT. Cars, vans and camper vans are all welcome, and it does not matter whose badge is on the bonnet. Whatever it is, you get the price before we start.
Noises, pulling, vibration or a smell all point somewhere useful.
On the ramp, with the wheels off where that is what it takes.
What needs doing, what can wait and what each part of it costs.
Correct parts, done once, with the vehicle checked over before you collect.
Get it looked at this week. A squeal can be dust or a worn wear indicator, but a grinding noise usually means the pad material has gone and the disc is being damaged, which costs considerably more to put right. We will measure what is left and tell you where you stand.
It goes on age as well as mileage, and the interval varies by engine. Tell us the make, model, year and mileage and we will tell you what the manufacturer specifies and whether yours is overdue.
We use parts that meet the manufacturer's specification, and where there is a genuine choice between an original part and a quality equivalent, we will explain the difference and the price and let you choose.
Yes, and that is a lot of what we do. If we tested the vehicle here, the failure work and the retest happen in the same place. If it failed elsewhere, bring the certificate and we will price the work off it.
We do, alongside cars. Class 4 vans and camper vans up to 3,000kg are tested and repaired here. Ring us with the weight and make if you are not sure yours qualifies.
